Vietnam Photos by Robert Ellison

This was a personal collection of photographs taken by Ellison while a civilian photographer in Vietnam. (He was exempt from the draft because his father was killed in WWII) Despite this he felt he had to cover the war and record the story of our soldiers honestly.  Ellison was published in Ebony and Jet magazines before going to Vietnam.  He had a cover and eight pages in Newsweek about the Siege of Khe Sanh.  Robert was killed on March 6, 1968, when the C-123 he was on crashed after receiving ground fire.  He and forty-nine Marines lost their lives that day.
