Approximately 657 5th graders from Colby Elementary, Abby Elementary, Eleva-Strum Elementary, Gilman Elementary, Granton Elementary, Greenwood Elementary, Loyal Elementary, St. Anthony’s of Loyal, Neillsville Elementary, Owen-Withee Elementary, Thorp Elementary, St. Bernard’s of Thorp, Stanley Elementary, Merrillan-Lincoln Elementary, and Augusta Elementary visited The Highground to learn about patriotism and service to Country and honoring Veterans-past, present and future.
Harry Johnson of the Clark County Area Veterans’ Council welcomed the students at the flag pole where they recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang The National Anthem. Students were given an educational tour by the staff of The Highground. They then had milk and cookies provided by Clark County Area Veterans’ Council as well as a small flag. The students were also given hands-on experience on flag etiquette, learning how to fold and handle the American flag.
Students and teachers enjoyed their day with the Veterans and their visit to our Veterans Memorial Park. Our mission is healing and education. |
