“Remembering Their Sacrifice”
Warm sunny skies welcomed hundreds of visitors at The Highground for their Memorial Day Celebration on Monday. The replica liberty bell tolled and color guards from Neillsville American Legion Post 73 and the Loyal American Legion Post 175 displayed their colors. Guests were welcomed by Volunteer General Manager Kirk Rodman. The Invocation was given by Fort McCoy Chaplain Tom Shepard. Our guest speaker was First Lieutenant Lam D. Chu also from Fort McCoy. A young volunteer led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Miles Voss led visitors in singing the Star Spangled Banner.
After the Honor Guard fired and Taps was played by Ron Vine. The names of the Wisconsin soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan were read. Visitors joined the talking circle and talked about their beloved veterans.
