Hardee’s Sells Stars for Veterans Check Presented to The Highground

It was a coordinated effort of many to raise $1,714.  Mrs. Bechtel’s homeroom students were some of those that helped cut out thousands of stars helping Hardee’s raise money for The Highground.  Students cut the stars, Hardee’s patrons purchased the stars for a dollar.  Dave Droste, Hardee’s Director of Operations presented a $1,714.00 check to Kirk Rodman, Volunteer General Manager of The Highground Veterans Memorial Park near Neillsville. Mary and Al Williams, owners of Hardee’s in Medford, Neillsville and Colby have been strong supporters of The Highground, encouraging support for our veterans.  The Hardee’s Restaurants that participated in this fundraiser are located in Black River Falls, Colby, Marshfield, Medford, Neillsville, Osseo and both Eau Claire locations. These funds will be used to help build a Wisconsin Persian Gulf Tribute that is currently being designed for The Highground.  Thank you Hardees!  Your ongoing support has been awesome. (Unsold stars will be used in the future for another opportunity to support our Veterans.)

The Highground Benefits from M & I Bank Campaign

The M&I Financial Advisors Referral Campaign held their referral campaign in which the winner would receive a $1,000 check made payable to a local charity in their honor. Thank you, Charlie Neff, Jr.

Charlie Neff, Jr., Neillsville resident, called to ask Kirk Rodman, Volunteer General Manager to meet him. Neff knows the importance of making sure The Highground’s future is secure. Therefore, Mr. Neff presented Mr. Rodman with a check in the amount of $2100 to build on The Highground’s Endowment Fund. An endowment fund will allows the funds to be invested and only the interest to be spent in the future. With a large enough endowment, funds will be available when the public does not support The Highground as it currently does today. Thank you Charlie Neff, Jr. for your generous support of The Highground and foresight for the future of The Highground.

Ribbon that was sold to raise the funds

Memorial Medical Center raised funds through the sale of their patriotic ribbons and presented a $100 check to Kirk Rodman, Volunteer General Manager. These funds will help purchase Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder materials to be distributed to those suffering but participating in Tomah’s VA counseling services.  Tomah’s VA utilizes The Highground from April through October each year by visiting, enjoying a tour and then using the Meditation Garden or Picnic Grounds for an area to counsel veterans.  The books:  Tears of a Warrior and Souled Out are then given to the veteran to take back to read.  This is another connection the veteran can make to see they are not alone.

The Highground’s mission is healing and education.

It is a place for all of us.
